MyOneManBand is Phill Wilson, a collection of cables and switches, and a mass of effects, sampling pedals and loops (plus of course the occasional guitar and keyboard); but in the kingdom of MyOneManBand, technology and melody share the same bed.
Phill is keenly aware and fiercely protective of the performative and (to a degree) the improvisational nature of the music he produces. While many bands and musicians struggle with reproducing live the textures they’ve created in their recorded material, Phill’s dilemma is how to capture the authenticity of his live performances on a studio recording. The balance is a tricky one, but together with John Spence, Phill achieves in this recording a true representation of what his live performances are all about.
